I have always thought that my favorite non-espresso brewing method was a toss-up between the French Press and the AeroPress…until now!  A couple of weeks ago I ordered a Bodum Santos stove-top coffee maker to see what all of the hub-bub is about with this siphon pot coffee brewing, and I’m glad that I did!

>>Breville Conical Burr Grinder<<

Hello, and welcome back to CoffeeNate.com, I’m so glad you have joined me!  Today, I did a tasting and review of Dean & Deluca’s Dark Roast House Blend .   This blend is a complex mix of four origin varieties.  The dark roasting process does diminish the majority of the distinctive quality of the beans, but there is a detectable complexity.  Heavy bittersweet chocolate, smoke, and toffee notes, followed by a long and pronounced cocoa finish.  The acidity is bright, and it is full bodied coffee, meaning a heavy mouth feel. Dean & Deluca offers a wide array of quality culinary products, and their coffees and teas are just the start.  The price point is reasonable at $15 per pound, but the shipping is a bit high at $6.50 for this purchase.  If you buy 2 bags, then shipping is $8.50 and brings the per pound price down to $19.25.  Many companies ship in 12 oz packages, so there is the advantage of receiving %25 more than the common weight.   I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dean & Deluca coffee is Fair Trade and certified organic!  Their website and product information made no note of either, but this product carries the certification seals for FT and USDA organic.

Welcome back to CoffeeNate.com!  I’m glad that you’ve stopped by to spend a few minutes watching my videos.  I’m having a great time doing this site, it’s been a blast already!  This week I am featuring one of my favorite coffee companies, Green Mountain Coffee. These guys offer a huge variety of Fair Trade and Organic coffees to choose from.  I have yet to try one that I don’t like, but I will keep searching to see if there is one.

There are over 2 million small scale coffee farmers that depend on the trade to provide for their family’s well being.  All too often these farmers are literally forced to sell their fine products to middle men at a huge discount, either because they are under educated, or because they are not allowed to trade as an individual.   The concept of "Fair Trade" came about to [Read more…]
